Salvation

How to be Saved and Become A Christian
  • Believe what God reveals to us in the Bible about himself (Genesis 1-3; Isaiah 6:3, 55:8-9; John 3:16; Romans 2:4; 1 Peter 1:15-16; 1 John 1:5, 4:7, 8, 16). God is sovereign, loving, and holy, and therefore good and right in all His ways.

  • Believe what God reveals to us in the Bible about ourselves and sin (Genesis 1:27; Isaiah 53:6; Romans 3:10-18; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:10a). God created man in the image of God. All people should live to reflect the holy, good, loving and right character of God, and walk in fellowship with Him. However, all people have failed to do that perfectly. We have all rebelled against God and what He says. That is sin. All people are born with a sin nature.

  • Believe what God reveals to us in the Bible about the consequences of sin (Matthew 10:28, 16:18; Mark 9:42-48; Romans 1:18, 2:9-10, 6:23a). God reveals to us in the Bible that the consequences of sin is wrath from God, eternal death in a real place called hell in which the person is eternally separated from God.

  • Believe what God reveals to us in the Bible about the way to have forgiveness of sin and a restored relationship with God (Mark 1:15, 15:37, 16:6; John 3:16; Acts 1:9-11, 20:21; 2 Corinthians 7:10; Romans 6:23b, 10:9-10; 1 John 2:2). God reveals to us that we must be sorrowful for our sin, desire forgiveness from God, and therefore repent (or turn) from sin and trust in Jesus Christ as the perfect sacrifice who took our place, bearing the wrath of God for our sin while on the cross. We must believe that Jesus is the Son of God, God in flesh, and that He died and rose from the grave, thus conquering Satan, sin and death. We must also believe that Jesus ascended to heaven where He is with God the Father.
To sum it all up, the Apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians 15:3-5 that the good news of salvation is …that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, A person must truly believe this in order to be saved.
Pray to God, confessing your sin, telling Him that you now realize that you need forgiveness of your sin. Ask God to forgive you of your sin. Tell Him that you believe that Jesus is the Son of God. Tell God that you believe that Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead, paying the penalty for your sin. Thank the Lord for His great love for you. Ask Him to help you follow Jesus. Thank Him for saving you and giving you eternal life.
